NIIT Ghana will begin to develop an annual faculty retraining program aimed at IT lecturers in the higher education industry. Driven by a need to update our professors and teachers, NIIT Ghana Business Director Yaw Amoateng said, “across the world universities have realized that keeping up with the rate of change in technology and staying relevant is a key ingredient to graduating making graduates job-ready”.

“There are still professors at the university level teaching MS Access as their main tool for databases, whereas 90% of all database computation is now done entirely in the cloud.”

Yaw Amoateng, Business Director, NIIT Ghana

In order to meet the demands of industry as they have done in the past, NIIT will be meeting with the Heads of IT Departments across many public and private universities, and understand how to craft a relevant teacher training program that incorporates newer technology.

“In Asia, over 150+ institutions now outsource their IT curriculum development to NIIT. Our focus has always been on IT training Ghana, so we will begin by helping IT Department Heads retrain their profs.”

Vinay Gokaldas, Transformation Officer, NIIT Ghana
